Prescribed fire was fairly intense but patchy in intensity. Most of trees less than 5 cm, many up to 15 cm dbh killed back. Many Quercus montane, few other hardwoods left in canopy or understory. Canopy mostly pines. All 3 pines survived, buut many P. virginiana and some P. pungens[??] killed. Sprouts are now 1-2 m tall in dense clumps. Quercus ilicifolia sprout clumps are abundant. Some apparent seedlings (small stems removed from larger clumps) are present. Almost no herbs. Tall shrub cover was probably around 25% before fire: Understory probably 75%. Xenophyllum is nearby but not in plot. Utterly amazing crop of luscious vaccinium pallidum fruits.
